Allahabad: In a major setback to Uttar Pradesh government, the Allahabad High Court on Friday today directed to seize the powers of senior IAS officer Rama Raman who is holding three important charges as Chairman of Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Expressway.

A division bench comprised of Justice Arun Tandon and Justice Sunita Agarwal passed the order on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by one Jitendra Goyal. The court also ordered to club all the PILs filed against Rama Raman.

In a massive snub to the UP government, the court said if one officer is holding three such important assignments, it shows inefficiency of the former. The court fixed next date of hearing on July 20 next and directed the state government to file an affidavit.

The courts also directed to refer the transfer case of Ram Raman to the high-powered administrative board set up by the state government for the purpose and decide it in two-week time.

The 1987-batch IAS officer Rama Raman is considered very close to the political leadership in the state and has been given charge of three big authorities in NCR.
