Allahabad High Court justifies action of Anti-Romeo squads in UP

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Thursday refused to interfere in much-talked about police's Anti-Romeo Squad action across the state after Yogi government came into being in Uttar Pradesh.

A division bench comprised of justices AP Sahi and Sanjai Harkauli upheld action of Yogi government on activating the state police to act against Romeos. It further gave go ahead to the police to have a crack down on the Romeos following provisions of law.

The bench while declining to retainer a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by a lawyer Gaurav Gupta, said the constitution of anti romio squad was fully lawful and constitutional.

It may be recalled that a lot of hue and cry has been made on the action of Anti-Romeo squad by UP police.
