Agra: At least five people were killed and more than 40 were injured when a petrol tanker rammed into two tractor-trolleys, late on Thursday here.

The tractor-trolleys stationed at a road-side eatery were carrying 60 people from villages in Pavagada area of Etah district who were going for Govardhan parikrama.

Police said the injured had been shifted to Agra's SN Medical College. The five killed were identified and their bodies were handed over to their respective families.

After the collision, four of them died on the spot while the fifth later succumbed to burn injuries.

The traffic on the Agra-Delhi highway remained suspended for over two hours.
