Will Taj city prove lucky for Akhilesh Yadav this time?

Agra: The Taj city of Agra must have been the most frequently visited place by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav during his five year term since 2012. The reason - Akhilesh and the ruling Samajwadi Party always considered Agra as the lucky for the party.

According to party insiders, it was national executive of the party in 1993 which saw return of power for SP. SInce then, the party made it a point to organise some function or another just before the elections. This time, however, the situation is different as the embattled party is finding its way out from the maze of unwieldy political positioning.

It is not just a coincidence but a well thought-out strategy of Akhilesh to launch his Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections campaign from here on Thursday next. Of 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, CM Akhilesh preferred Agra to kick-start election campaign for Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

Obviously, Akhilesh and his party would like to use Agra as a good omen in the coming elections as far as electoral performance is concerned. Interestingly, contrary to popular belief about Agra, politicians are always wary of visiting Noida as it is said that whichever CM visited Noida, was thrown out of power.

The office bearers of Agra unit of Samajwadi party are busy making preparations for campaign launch of Akhilesh. If this place is proved lucky for SP, this time also will be known in two months time when the results of UP Assembly elections are announced.
