Chandan Bose, sharpshooter of Ram Vriksha nabbed from Basti

Basti: In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday arrested Chandan Bose, the sharpshooter of Ram Vriksha Yadav, the mastermind behind the Jawaharbagh violence of Mathura.

Chandan was arrested from Kaithulia area under Parashurampur police station in Basti district in the wee hours by the special operation group and Parashuram police station force, informed superintendent of police (SP) Kripa Shankar Singh.

Chandan's wife Poonam Bose was also arrested.

He is believed to be the man who had shot dead Mathura SP Mukul Dwivedi in the Jawaharbagh violence on June 2 last.

Several cases under section 147,148,149,307,302,336,332,333,353,436,186 and 148 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were registered against him with the Sadar Bazar police station in Mathura. Seven cases under the criminal law amendment were also lodged against Chandan Bose.

Bose was being interrogated by the police, Singh added.
