Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court has directed Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary to file an affidavit, in a case of missing documents related to educational qualification of SK Singh, former secretary of UP Higher Education Service Commission (UPHESC), after going through the report of inquiry officer who has investigated the case of lost documents.

The Court has further directed chief secretary to ensure that whether there has been strict compliance of the earlier directions issued by the Court from time to time and the documents, which are on record, have been duly taken note of in the inquiry report.

Earlier, the court had restrained Singh from performing duties as the secretary of UP Higher Education Service Commission (UPHESC) and directed the government to file a counter affidavit on his educational qualifications and caste certificate.

The bench comprising Justice Arun Tandon and justice A K Mishra passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Dr Dhirendra Singh.

The petitioner contended that the UPHESC secretary used fake marksheet to secure appointment to the post. Singh claimed that he belonged to the scheduled tribes (ST) category and used caste certificate to avail certain benefits, the petitioner said.

The Court has fixed July 22 as next date of hearing.
