Woman sets herself afire smothering her two kids to death

Shrawasti: In an appalling incident, a woman namely Meera set herself on fire, smothering her two small offspring to death in the wee hours on Sunday at Kohna village under Sirsiya police station limits in Shrawasti district of Uttar Pradesh.

Soon after, the villagers took her out of the locked room, where she committed the act, Meera jumped into a well situated outside the house. She was then rushed to a local hospital being pulled out from the well.

The matter:

• Meera had an argument with her mother-in-law on Saturday night.
• Her husband Pradeep intervened and settled the matter at that point of time.
• Later, in the morning, the fight between the two continued.
• Irked Meera locked herself and her two sons, one-year-old Aryan and four-year-old Anurag, inside a room of the house.
• She smothered both the kids to death and set herself afire.
• The villagers managed to take her out breaking the latched door of the room.
• Eventually, she was admitted to a local hospital where her condition is stated to be serious.
• No FIR has been lodged yet.
