Violent clash between junior doctors and BHU students; six critically injured

Varanasi: At least six students were critically injured when a violent clash took place between the students of Banaras Hindu University and junior doctors.

The clash led to arson and stone pelting. The students vandalised police booth, ATM and motorbikes.

They also burnt university property at Birla, Ruiya and Dhanvantri hostels.

The fight took place after a debate between on-call doctor and students over the availability of bed for a patient.

It is to be mentioned that a chandoli resident came to the University hospital for the surgery where the on-call doctor stated that no bed ws available . The patient's friends, who were also the students of BHU started creating ruckus which later turned into violence.

The tension continued till Tuesday morning. Police and security officers have been deployed to the university.
