Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party has got all its candidates for the state state legislative council election for which was held on Saturday elected, proving political pundits wrong. The party required support of seven more members to ensure their victory and it was believed that it was not an easy task. By achieving it, party supremo Mayawati has proved that she knows how to keep the flock together and manage victory.

There were 14 candidates in the fray for 13 vacant seats of MLC in the Upper House of Uttar Pradesh legislature.

In the vote management the BJP has failed. It had fielded two candidates in the hope that some other party members will back it. But it could not happen and one of its candidate Daya Shankar who secured only 20 first preference votes lost.

The party, with 41 members in the assembly , was not in a position to send two members to the upper house. As many as 29 first preference votes were required to win. Thus, it was 12 short of the magic figure. The gap could not be filled.

The result in other cases is on the dotted lines. The congress had put up one candidate and the SP eight. All of them have been declared victorious.
