New Delhi: India's move for pushing for greater connectivity and integration can strengthen its roots as External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will attend the SAARC Ministerial meeting today. External Affairs Minister is supposed to meet with her counterparts after the meeting and also will be pushing the "Neighbourhood First" Policy of the Indian Government.

The most anticipated meeting of Ms. Swaraj would be with Pakistani Minister of External Affairs Sartaj Aziz, which is expected to bring the positive hopes and pave way for a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart, in US later this month.

Issues that could create headlines

  • Sushma Swaraj is expected to focus on getting support from SAARC countries to fight trafficking and fake currency problems.
  • Swaraj is likely to push for SAARC Motor Vehicles Agreement and SAARC Railways Agreement.

The Minister of External Affairs will have another key meeting with the Nepali Leadership in order to strengthen India Nepal ties as the later's Prime Minster hopes to have India's support in achieving economic prosperity to resolve the Internal Problems of Nepal.
