New Delhi: Sterlite Power Grid Ventures Limited (Sterlite Grid) has become India’s first private power transmission developer to deploy Aircrane for setting up of a power transmission line in the extremely challenging terrain of Jammu & Kashmir.

Announcing it on Wednesday, Sterile Grid said the company entered into a partnership with US-based Erickson Inc. to install nearly 160 transmission towers in the rough terrain of Pir Panjal ranges at the altitude of 9000 ft to 12500 ft, using Erickson’s S64 Aircrane, a heavy lift helicopter.

The transmission project (NRSS 29), set to be commissioned mid-2016 is likely to ten months ahead of its schedule. The project will not only improve the power availability in the state of Jammu & Kashmir but it will also set a new benchmark in development of power infrastructure in India.
