Sonam Gupta among top five trending personalities on GOOGLE in 2016

New Delhi: Sonam Gupta's "bewafai", which went viral over the social mediums post demonetisation, led the fictitious character to make place in the top 5 trending personalities in 2016 over the search engine giant GOOGLE.

Sonam Gupta suddenly came into prominence after a new currency note of Rs 2000 had written over it "Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai" surfaced on various social networks.

Several jokes and stories of Sonam Gupta's betrayal started floating over the instant messaging platform WhatsApp and the fictitious character became a home name.

Meanwhile, US president-elect Donald Trump followed by Indian Olympic medalist PV Sindhu grabbed the first and second spot respectively over the Google's list of top trending personalities in 2016.

Gymnast Dipa Karmakar took the fourth spot, followed by actor Disha Patani who recently made her Bollywood debut in a biopic on Indian cricketing star M.S. Dhoni
