Hardoi: In yet another case of rail mishap, the engine of a passenger train, heading to Prayag from Bareilly, caught fire while in motion on Sunday. Fortunately, the train had two engines and the driver cleverly stopped the train and detached the engine that was on fire. The reason of the fire is still unknown and can only be clarified after an inspection.

Bachchi Singh, Railway Police Force (RPF) in-charge, said here that train no. – 54378, Bareilly-Allahabad passenger, left Behtagokul railway station and as it covered a distance of 3kms, the driver noticed that one of the engines of the train was on fire and he stopped the train right at the spot.

Highlights:

  • The information of the fire was given to the previous station by the guard of the train.
  • The station officials came into action and reached the spot as soon as they were informed about the incident.
  • Jagran Pal, driver of the train, separated the burning engine from the train and drove it a kilometre back through another engine.
  • Later, fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the engine that was burning on the track.
