Bareilly: In yet another train accident in Uttar Pradesh, Meerut-bound Rajya Rani Express collided with a tanker at the Gaudganj bridge in Faridpur region here on Wednesday.

The tanker driver died on the spot while seven others sustained severe injuries in the fatal accident, confirmed the railway officials. The injured have been sent to the nearby hospital.

According to the sources, the gate at the railway crossing was open when the accident took place. The commutation on the line has been stopped for now.

The tanker was carrying petroleum products which have spread up at the accident spot, added the sources. It has also been claimed that a major mishap has been averted due to the alertness of the loco pilots of the express train.

Both the loco pilots belong to Moradabad district and are safe, confirmed the sources.

Bareilly District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) have rushed to the spot.
