Rahul Gandhi calls J&K police officer's lynching 'heartbreaking'
New Delhi: Taking on the BJP-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that the lynching of a senior police officer has marked a new low in the state and it was really disappointing to see the state being dragged back several decades following the failure of the government.
"The brutal lynching of Deputy SP Md Ayub Pandit marks a new low. Pained beyond words at the horrific incident," said Gandhi on his official Twitter account.

"Heartbreaking to see Jammu and Kashmir being pushed back several decades because of the complete failure of the PDP-BJP government," he added.

Earlier on Thursday night, a group of people brutally lynched a senior police officer in Srinagar. The killing has triggered outrage across the state. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the incident calling it 'murder of trust'.
The battered body of Deputy Superintendent Mohammed Ayub Pandit was found on Friday morning outside the Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta region of the Old City. It was the place where he was set upon by a killer mob.
