Peshawar: A police constable was killed and 17 others were injured in a bomb blast in Peshawar’s Mithra area, on Wednesday morning.

According to Peshawar senior superintendent of police (SSP), Abdul Majid Marwat, out of the total injured persons 11 were from the bomb disposal squad (BDS) while six were civilians.

“The first remote-controlled bomb exploded as a police van was passing by, injuring a policeman and a pedestrian. As BDS reached the scene, a second remote-controlled bombs were detonated,” said Kashif Zulfiqar, SP Cantonment.

The wounded people are admitted to Lady Reading Hospital, while additional police personnel have been deployed in the area.
