IISc ranked India's best university by NIRF

Bengaluru: The National Institutions Ranking Framework (NIRF) has announced the first India rankings 2016, on Monday, in New Delhi, declaring Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the best institute globally.

IISc has maintained it's standards and topped the charts of NIRF followed by three other institutes in Karnataka featuring among the top institutions.

Several parameters like teaching, learning resources and research were considered to evaluate these institutes.

Top Institutes declared by NIRF:

  • Indian Institute of Science (IISc)- Bangalore has been declared the best institute globally.
  • Indian Institute of Management- Bangalore (IIM-B) has topped the management institutes ranking.
  • Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences has topped the pharma category.
  • Jagadguru Sri Shivaratreeshwara college of Pharmacy ranked 10th among the top institutions.

Top Universities by NIRF:

  • Jawahar Lal University (JNU).
  • University of Hyderabad (UoH)
  • Indian Institute of Technology- Madras (IIT-M)

It may me mentioned that JNU and Uoh have faced government flare in past few months.

Contended with the result Anurag Kumar, Director IISc said, "This under lines the hard work of our faculty, students, researchers and the support of Ministry, which is continously supporting us."

Kumar while attending the event where the announcement was made stated that the result is the reflection of the institute's commitment to fundamental research.
