Naxals open fire at district force in C’garh, 2 jawans injured

Raipur: Two policemen were injured when Naxals on Saturday attacked a team of security officials deployed to provide security to a helicopter in the dense forests at Pamed in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.

“The district force (DF) jawans sustained bullet injuries as the armed Maoists opened fire at them near Pamed police station of the district,” said Special Director General of Police (SDGP), Anti-Maoist Operations DM Awasthi.

Highlights:

• Security forces were given the responsibility to look after the safety of the helipad before landing of a helicopter.
• The helicopter was meant to drop some jawans from Bijapur to Pamed.
