A marriage to remember in Karnataka after infamous TN wedding

Bengaluru: Karnataka may do a Tamil Nadu. It may even outdo it . A former minister and a Bhartiya Janta Party leader will spend more than a 100 crore of rupees on wedding of his daughter. Roughly, almost the same amount was expended by Tamil Nadu chief minister in her foster son’s marriage a few years ago.

The figure may go up as the wedding is to take place in the night and final calculation will be made only after that. Since it had taken place some years ago, the Tamil Nadu marriage has relegated to the background. Karnataka marriage is the matter of debate now.

The news of the “ historical” marriage has reached the income tax and other officials who are keeping a close watch. Income tax notice may be served on him as the issue has been also debated in parliament and some members have demanded an inquiry into the expenditure in this marriage.

The leader who is in the mining business, however, claims that he has mortgaged his properties in Singapore and Bengaluru for his daughter’s marriage. “ It is every father’s dream to make his daughter’s marriage a memorable event. So, I am not doing anything extraordinary”, he said on a query.

Newspaper reports, however, suggest that the marriage may cost around Rs 500 crores going by the arrangements made for the purpose and list of invitees. As many as 50,000 people have been sent invitations.
