Lt Col Pankaj Singh cremated with state honours

Kanpur : A pall of gloom descended upon in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh when body of Lieutenant Colonel Pankaj Singh was brought here by a special aircraft on Tuesday evening.

His body was received by his family members and was sent to his ancestral house in Vimannagar of Chakeri area of the city. Later, his funeral took place with state honours at Siddhnath Ghat of Jajmau .

Lt. Col Pankaj was killed along with five soldiers during a recce operation in Dibrugarh Lekhavali of Assam when his Gypsy collided with an uncontrolled truck on Monday last.He is survived by his wife , one son (8) and a daughter (2) .
