Famous Pakistani qawwali singer Amjad Sabri shot dead
Islamabad: In a broad daylight crime, two unknown bike-borne assailants on Wednesday opened fire at famous Pakistani ‘Qawwal, (Qawwali singer) Amjad Sabri’s car. He was killed in the attack.
“Sabri was assaulted in Liaquatabad town in the central part of Karachi while he was heading to somewhere in his personal vehicle,” said a Karachi police official.
According to an eye-witness, Sabri was critically injured in the attack and succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi.
- The identity of gunmen was yet to be ascertained.
- Sabri’s brother confirmed his martyrdom in the attack.
- The deceased driver was also critically injured in the attack.
- Sabri had ignited a controversy last year when he claimed that Bajrangi Bhaijaan violated the copyrights of his song ‘Bhar Do Jholi’.
