DRDO test launches missile MR-SAM in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The missile, MR-SAM, was successfully test - launched in the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandigarh at an early hour on Thursday.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation ( DRDO) official said, “The test launch was a grand success and it met all the targets."

Highlights:

  • The missile was constructed by the joint efforts of Indian Defence Research Development Laboratory (DRDO) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
  • As a safety measure, Balasore district administration with defence officials shifted approx 3600 civilians residing within 2.5 km radius of the launch pad to nearby shelters.
  • Fishermen were also advised not to venture into the sea along Bay of Bengal in three Odisha coastal Districts namely Balasore, Bhadrakh and Kendrapada.
