New Delhi: Accepting the defeat in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, newly elected Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday praised his party workers saying that they 'fought anger with dignity'.

Congress might have lost Himachal Pradesh where they were in power, but have surprisingly gained a lot of ground in Gujarat with more than 40 per cent vote share.

Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to thank the people of Gujarat and Himachal for pouring love on him and his party.

"The Congress party accepts the verdict of the people and congratulates the new governments in both states. I thank the people of Gujarat and Himachal with all my heart for the love they showed me," he tweeted.

"My Congress brothers and sisters, you have made me very proud. You are different than those you fought because you fought anger with dignity. You have demonstrated to everyone that the Congress’s greatest strength is its decency and courage," he said in another tweet.
