British MP Jo Cox succumbs to injuries; One arrested
London: Days ahead of the crucial referendum on UK's EU membership, a British Woman MP from the opposition Labour Party died after being shot and stabbed in Birstall in West Yorkshire on Thursday.
Jo Cox, the Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. A 52-year-old man was arrested near Market Street, Birstall, West Yorkshire Police said.
The eyewitnesses said that she was shot at and was seen lying bleeding on the pavement. Police said that a man nearby her also suffered slight injuries.
The MP was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary, where armed police force has been placed for security concerns.
