BJP fails to clear Modi rally dues, leader threatens suicide

Agra: Vinod Samaria is a puzzled man. He has to pay a heavy price for his loyalty to Bharatiya Janata Party. He even threatens to commit suicide.

Samaria, the Fatehpur Sikri unit president of BJP had booked a train for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Lucknow on March 1, 2014 on behalf of the party.Now he is getting reminders from the Railways to pay over 12 lakh for the train booking.

What is the matter

  • He had booked a train for Modi's rally.
  • The booking was in his name .
  • Rs 18 lakh was already paid to the Railways from party fund.
  • He was billed over Rs 12 lakh extra as he had requested the Railways for additional four stoppages of the train.
  • The bill totalled to over Rs 30 lakh.

What Samaria is to say

  • I am son of a poor farmer.
  • I do not have the money to pay.
  • I have approached senior BJP leaders and even the Raiwlay Minister Suresh Prabhu but to no avail.
  • I am left with no other option but to commit suicide like Rohit Vemula.

What Railways Have to say

  • A senior Railway Official said the department is sending notices to him.
  • The train was booked in his name.
  • The initial payment of over Rs 18 lakh had already been made.
  • He will have to pay for the four stoppages of the train i.e over rs 12 lakh.
