An unputdownable parable of Periods, Pads and Pain

With education and empowerment women are changing now, they have broken-down all the shackles that had chained them for centuries. Women of today don't know any boundary, they don't let anything come in between them and their success, nor even the pain. They wear the period pain as their bravery badge and stains as the mark of their glorious victory.

An unputdownable parable of Periods, Pads and Pain

Lucknow: From our kiddish class 6th undertone conversations to our grown up and bold talks, our menstrual cycles or periods didn't get that confidence to be talked in public, loud and clear. I remember the days when we used to hear many nick names given to periods ('Not well', 'down', 'Maheene', 'Wo waale din' and so on). Many of us would go on our investigative mode whenever we used to witness those secretive yet confusing actions performed unexceptionally well by our female members during "those days".

Many of us must have woke-up to stained bed-sheets, clothes and would've rushed to bathroom before anyone else in the home could notice the embarrassment and the plight which had then taken over us.

For so long we have been treating our Periods in a very unnatural way, we call it 'problem' we feel ashamed of it, we say 'tabiyat kharab hai' (not well) but in reality if we miss on our periods or if it is irregular then we have problem we are 'bimar' or sick. Till the time a women is getting it she is discharging the impure blood from her body. The blood is impure as body doesn't require it anymore, it was used to form an egg but as it didn't fertilize it gets replaced by the new one through menstrual cycle every month.

Long gone are days when it was considered to be a taboo to talk about it publicly and women were thought to be impious and unholy during their menstruation and were barred to under go many religious work and do many day to day work like making pickles, entering kitchen etc. In many places they were not even allowed to sit on beds and were either required to sit on the floor or were confined to a room.

With right education and empowerment women are changing now, they have broken-down all the shackles that had chained them for centuries. Women of today don't know any boundaries, they don't let anything come in between them and their success, nor even the pain. They wear the period pain as their bravery badge and stains as the mark of their glorious victory.
