Mumbai: Bollywood Actor-turned-politician and former Member of Parliament (MP) from Rampur (2004-2014) Jaya Prada turned 54 on Sunday. On this remarkable occasion, newztrack.com wishes her a very happy birthday and brings her fans some exciting facts about her life:

Early life:

  • Jaya was born as Lalita Rani on April 3, 1962 to Telugu film financer Krishna Rao and housewife Neelavani at Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh.
  • The young Jaya attended a Telugu medium school Rajahmundry.
  • When Jaya was 14, she performed a dance at her school annual function from where she got her first break playing a three minute dance scene in Telugu movie ‘Bhoomi Kosam’.
  • The 54 year old actor married producer Srikanth Nahatain in 1986.

Acting Career:

  • Jaya Prada has starred in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi films.
  • Indian director Satyajit ray has once describes Jaya as one of the prettiest woman of the world.

Political Career:

  • At the age of 32, the actor started her political career.
  • At the invitation of Telugu Desam Party’s founder N.T. Rama Rao, Jaya Prada joined TDP in 1994.
  • She campaigned in several constituencies in 1994.
  • She was nominated to the Rajya Sabha representing Andhra Pradesh in 1996.
  • She also held the post of Telugu Mahila President.
  • Because of some differences with party Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, she left the TDP to join Samajwadi Party.
  • During 2004 General elections, she contested from Rampur and got elected with a margin of 85000 votes.
  • In 2009 Lok Sabha elections, she was notified by the Election Commission for violating the code of conduct by distributing bindis to women in Rampur’s Swar locality.
  • On May 11, 2009 Jaya Prada alleged that senior Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan was distributing her nude pictures.
  • She was re-elected with a margin of more than 30,000 votes.
  • Jaya Prada was expelled from the party on February 2, 2010 for suppoting former General Secretary of Samajwadi Party, Amar Singh and indulged in anti-party activities.
  • Amar Singh, along with Jaya Prada started his own political party Rashtriya Lok Manch in 2011.
  • The party did not win a single seat in 2012 assembly election in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Later she, along with Amar Singh joined RLD on March 10, 2014.
  • She got the ticket to contest from Bijnor in 2014 General Elections and she again lost the seat.
