Srinagar: About 21 cops were injured on Wednesday in a protest in which Pakistani flags were raised and stones were pelted over security forces in different parts of the Kashmir valley even on the peace loving occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

After the prayers, some masked protesters recited anti-India slogans with Pakistani flag in their hands. They aggressively pelted stones on the security forces after which forces used lathi-charge and fired tear smoke shells to put a check on violent mob.

Such cases are common in Kashmir valley as they occur weekly after Friday prayers.

A police spokesman said-

  • Miscreants indulged in stone pelting at some places, including Main Chowk and Batapora Sopore, Hyderpora, Iddgah Srinagar and Ashaji Pora Anantnag.
  • Police and Security forces exercised maximum restraint.
  • 21 Police and security force personnel including two police officers and four others were injured.
