Kuala Lumpur: Creating a major backlash across the country, an alleged rapist of a 14-year-old girl in Malaysia was spared from being jailed after he married the victim.

“There is no need for further inquiry in this case after the two have entered the wedlock,” said the justice of a court situated in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on Borneo Island. Subsequently, the culprit was acquitted by the court.
