Lucknow: Twitter has expanded its popular audio chatting feature Twitter Spaces to all users. With this change, all Twitter users will get the option to create and host their voice chat room with the help of Android and iOS apps. The Spaces team reported the change in the past. With Spaces, users get the option to create audio chat rooms on a microblogging platform, like Clubhouse.

Now Spaces is for everyone

The Spaces feature from Twitter came to select users last year, which is now being rolled out wide. Earlier, the company had been offering only users who had more than 600 followers to host spaces through the Twitter app. The Spaces team said in a tweet that now all users will be able to host Spaces sessions and the number of followers is not significant.

How to create a Spaces session

If you want to do audio chatting on Twitter, you need to long-tap the compose button on the timeline. After tapping the 'Cluster of Dots' icon that appears next, you will get the 'Start Your Space' option. After switching on the mic, you will be able to chat with those who join the room and include a maximum of 11 speakers at a time. However, by joining as a speaker, other users can listen to speakers.

How to join as a listener

When you start a space session on behalf of users you follow on Twitter, you'll see a purple bubble at the top of the timeline. After tapping it, you will become a part of the space as a listener. In the meantime, you will find options such as reacting with emoji, checking pinned tweets, following speakers, tweeting or direct messages to the space host and requesting to speak.

Competing with Clubhouse

Twitter started rolling out the Spaces feature at the end of 2020 and was considered inspired by the audio-based social networking app Clubhouse. After testing with only iOS users, it was also released to Android users in March 2021 and the feature was well received. Since then, the social media company has been continuously incorporating new features in spaces and wants to connect as many users as they can.

Earn through Spaces

Twitter has also started rolling out ticketed spaces feature for users in its mobile app. With this feature, creators will get the option of earning and can sell tickets for their space session. Their space audio session can only be joined by users who have tickets. The company has said that only three percent of the creators' earnings from ticketed spaces will be deducted.
