Snapchat has introduced two additional 'layers' of memories and exploration in its snap map, according to the social media giant. Users can share their location as well as the photos that have been taken on them with their pals using the Snap Map function that is featured in the app. Snapchat's memories layer will also allow users to view photographs and videos that they have previously shared in one area. While on the other side, the explore layer is going to appear on various locations and associated public snap maps in the future.

Snapchat and Sony's Partnership

Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, has announced a partnership with Sony Music. Snapchat, in collaboration with Sony, has developed several augmented reality lenses that include sound and music. Snap co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel recently announced that the company's platform in India has reached the milestone of 100 million users. Advertisers, according to the corporation, have climbed by 70% this year as compared to the previous year, which was 2020.

Memories only for the users

According to the firm, the memories that surface as a result of the new layer will be fully private, and users will only be able to access them through their private accounts. Thus, your friends will be unable to see these memories when they are displayed on the map. If users so choose, they will be able to share memories with their pals. On the other hand, the app will display heat maps with an additional explore layer, as well as snaps uploaded by Snapchat users from all around the world in various areas.

Change the format of maps

According to the firm, Snapchat app users will be provided with a toggle in front of the Memories Layer, which will allow them to select whatever format they want to view the map landscape in when using the app. "Fresh layers with partners such as Ticketmaster are coming soon, and we are pleased to provide users with new and inventive experiences on Snap Map," Snapchat said in a statement. Users notice the layers option in the top left corner of the map after they have opened it.

A new feature for Birthday Reminder

Birthdays Mini is a new feature introduced by Snapchat this year that allows users to conveniently track the birthdays of their friends. The tool is currently available in India and other countries. Friends will be able to send special greetings and birthday messages to Snapchat when their friends' birthdays are approaching as a result of this feature. Users will now be able to see a list of friends whose birthdays are approaching in a separate tab, thanks to the latest functionality.

Special glasses for AR creators

Earlier this year, the firm demonstrated augmented reality (AR) glasses at the Snapchat Partner Summit in San Francisco. With the help of these augmented reality glasses, producers can test their lenses and filters on real-world objects and discover new methods to provide consumers with an immersive augmented reality experience. Snapchat glasses, on the other hand, will only be available to AR makers and will not be available to the general public when they launch.
