Navigating the Deepfake Dangers: A Guide to Spotting and Avoiding Scams on Telegram

New Delhi: Messaging platform Telegram has rolled out a new update for its users by the end of 2021. With this update, users have got features like Reactions to Messages, Translation for Messages, Themed QR Codes, and Hidden Text. With new features, the company wants to give its users a better experience than other messaging apps. Let us know how the features found in the latest update will work.

Option to respond to messages

Telegram users will now be able to take the help of emojis to respond to a message. The new feature has been automatically enabled for all private chats but admins for group chats and channels will have the option to turn the reactions feature on or off. A special animation has been given for every reaction. Such an option is already available in Instagram Direct Messaging and Facebook Messenger.

You will be able to use the reactions feature

Note that the 'default' reaction is set to all private chats. Users can change the settings and choose which reactions they want to use. After the chat settings, you will be able to choose to use the reactions of your choice after going to the Quick Reactions section. Admins in groups or channels will be given a feature to edit these reactions on the channel's info page.

Translate messages into your language

Telegram users will be able to translate messages from one language to another in the app itself with the new message transmission feature. This feature will support all languages that are available in the mobile operating system. It can be enabled by going to the language section of the settings. Users will also be able to choose the language of their choice and the translate button will not be shown on the messages in that language.

Users will be able to hide a part of the message

The messaging app includes a feature called Spoilers that will allow users to hide a part of the text message. This can be done with 'spoiler' formatting. The new Hidden text will hide a special part of the message on both the chat list and notifications. Once the message is received, the receiver will be able to see this part if he wants to. With this feature, Telegram users will avoid seeing spoilers associated with a film or story suddenly.

QR Codes to get a special theme

Telegram users will now be able to prepare QR codes for any public username. They will also get such an option for groups, channels, and bots. This feature will make it easier to search someone's profile quickly and users will also get the option to customize QR codes. After tapping the QR code provided with the username, a special theme can be applied by choosing the color and pattern for it.

Animations included for new emojis

The Telegram app has made interactive versions of some new emojis part of the platform. Emojis like Fire, Grin Face, and Sad Face will now look animated when shared. Sending them to personal chats and tapping them will show a special full-screen effect. Telegram has also included new shortcuts and context menus for the macOS version. After the update, users will get shortcut hits and animated icons for each menu item.

According to data shared by censor tower, India remains the largest internet market for telegrams. About 22 percent of Telegram's lifetime installs have been made by Indian users.
