New Delhi: Popular video streaming platform Netflix has made its subscription plans cheaper in India. The company's mobile-only plan can now be taken for Rs 149 per month as compared to Rs 199 earlier. Netflix may try to expand its subscriber base in India with this change. Netflix may benefit from Amazon Prime plans that have been made costlier recently.

Plans cheaper by Rs 300

Netflix's mobile-only plan had to pay Rs 199 so far, with videos streaming only on mobile and tablet screens. 499 per month, which has now been reduced by Rs.300 to Rs.199. Apart from mobile devices, the plan also offers the option of streaming on large screens of computers and TVs. Both these plans provide 480p streaming quality.

The new price of standard and premium plans was to be paid Rs 649 per month for the Standard Netflix plan, which has now been priced at Rs 499. On the other hand, the company's most expensive plan, which was earlier Rs 799 per month, will now require subscribers to pay only Rs 649 per month. The standard plan provides the option of streaming in 1080p quality and the premium plan in 4K+HDR quality. Subscribers can view content on the mobile, tablet, computer, and TV.


Amazon Prime's price rise will benefit Netflix

Netflix has made its subscription plans cheaper at a time when the price of Amazon Prime plans has been increased. The Prime Video service will now have to pay more than ever before. Earlier, amazon prime's annual subscription in India used to be available for Rs 999 but now it will have to pay Rs 1,499. Netflix will try to woo existing Prime subscribers with this change and they will be able to view Netflix content at a lower price.

The new website 'Tudum'

Netflix has also launched the "Tudum" website, which will showcase news and other information related to its trending and original shows. Users will also be able to watch exclusive interviews and top trending here. The website features several categories like Spotlight, News, Coming Soon, Trending, Popular Now, and Trailers. Users will have to log in with the help of their Netflix account to access the website.


Netflix is also offering gaming feature for free

Netflix is now giving users the option of gaming in the Android app. This option is being offered to all users using android apps around the world and five new games have been made part of the app. Netflix Android app users are getting games like Stranger Things: 1984 BonusXP), Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop), Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games), and Tutor Up (Frosty Pop).
