Kawasaki Z900, Kawasaki Z650 and more: Two-wheeler launches in Jan 2020

As the year 2019 is bidding farewell to us and 2020 is all set to welcome us with various opportunities and happiness, it also beholds with it a boost for the Indian auto industry as it will see a raft of new vehicle launches.

Lucknow: As the year 2019 is bidding farewell to us and 2020 is all set to welcome us with various opportunities and happiness, it also beholds with it a boost for the Indian auto industry as it will see a raft of new vehicle launches.

In the four-wheeler department, we will have Hyundai Aura and Tata Altroz getting launched on January 21 and January 22 , respectively. These will be joined by a luxury vehicle and two fully electric SUVs later next month. Other than cars, we will also see a number of two-wheelers getting launched next month. These include an adventure bike, two naked streetfighters, as well as two BS 6 scooters. And, perhaps, even an electric scooter could be launched in the first month of 2020. Here's a list of two-wheelers expected to be launched in India in January 2020.

1. BS 6 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 and Street Rally 125

Yamaha showcased the BS 6-compliant Ray ZR 125 and Street Rally 125 scooters this month at Fascino 125's launch event. In case you didn't know, Street Rally is essentially Ray ZR's sportier looking version and gets some minor functional changes over its sibling. Both the scooters are powered by a new 125 cc BS 6-compliant engine which makes 8 bhp and 10 Nm of peak torque. These scooters come equipped with a fully digital instrument panel which offers readouts for information like speed, clock, fuel gauge, fuel-efficiency, trip meter, etc. Besides this, these Yamaha scooters also get a silent start system facilitated by SMG (smart motor generator) and side-stand engine cut-off switch.

2. Bajaj Chetak Electric

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter was unveiled in October this year and is expected to be launched in the latter half of January 2020. The vehicle, which marks Bajaj's entry in the scooter segment after a hiatus of 10 years, sports neo-retro styling and harks back to the older Chetak with its wide front apron, curvy side panels, and steel body. The modern design approach is highlighted by LED headlamp, LED blinkers, and a TFT coloured display which offers all the readouts and also supports smartphone connectivity. Bajaj Chetak will be powered by a lithium-ion battery which will offer riding range between 85 km to 95 km on a single charge.

3. KTM 390 Adventure

One of the most anticipated bikes, the KTM 390 Adventure will finally be launched in India next month. The motorcycle, which marks KTM's entry in the adventure biking segment, is based on 390 Duke but borrows styling from 790 Adventure. It is powered by a BS 6-compliant 373.2 cc engine which makes 43 bhp and 37 Nm of peak torque. KTM 390 Adventure's features include a TFT colour display, with smartphone connectivity, lean-angle sensitive traction control system, switchable ABS, etc.

4. New Kawasaki Z900

Kawasaki will start 2020 by launching the new model of Z900 in January. In its new iteration, the bike gets a number of new features like a 4.3-inch TFT colour display with smartphone connectivity and a traction control system. The new Z900 will draw power from a BS 6-compliant 948 cc in-line, four-cylinder engine which delivers 124 bhp and 99 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch.

5. New Kawasaki Z650

Besides launching the new Z900, Kawasaki will also launch the new Z650 naked streetfighter next month. In its new avatar, this bike gets a BS 6-compliant 649 cc engine which churns 67 bhp and 66 Nm of peak torque. As opposed to the existing model, the new Z650 will come equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT instrument panel with smartphone connectivity. However, there are no other changes on the new model as compared to the existing one. The Japanese motorcycle maker has noted that because of the cleaner engine and new features, the 2020 Kawasaki Z650 will command a premium of ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 over the existing model.
