New Delhi: The troubles of microblogging site Twitter, which is messing with the Indian government over the new IT rules, are not decreasing. Now Twitter India has been accused of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus through its platform and a complaint has been lodged against the company in Delhi.

Complaint against Twitter India:

Lawyer Aditya Sind Deshwal has lodged an FIR in the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police against Twitter India, its MD Manish Maheshwari and NGO named Atheist Republic on charges of insulting Hindu Goddess.

Objectionable picture of Maa Kali:

The FIR states that NGO Ethist Republic posted an objectionable picture of Maa Kali and no action was taken deliberately on behalf of Twitter India in this regard. It has been said in this FIR that this content is not only abusive, but also creates enmity and ill-will in society. This has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. After this complaint, the police has started investigating the matter.

The complaint states that Twitter and Atheist Republic founder Armin Nawabi have been showing objectionable content of Hindu gods and goddesses since July 2011, which falls under the purview of Blesphemy.

Atheist Republic's profile is full of such blasphemous content about Hinduism and other religions. But Twitter has not taken any steps to remove such content. Thus Twitter is clearly violating Indian laws and acting as an affiliate of it. It has also been said in this FIR that Twitter is continuously promoting hate speech against Hindus and is violating many sections of IPC by not suppressing such content.

The difficulties of social media platforms are increasing day by day. Before this case of inciting religious sentiments, a case was registered against Twitter in Delhi regarding child pornography.
