New Delhi: A Coimbatore-based software engineer and designer, Vijay, has developed a humanoid robot in a bid to provide support to the banking sector employees whose work load have more than doubled due to government's November 8 decision of demonetisation.

The robot has been developed in such a manner that he understands 15 languages and can answer the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) of the customers coming to banks to withdraw or deposit cash.

"This robot will help bank customers by answering them how to open an account and giving info of existing accounts. It understands 15 languages," said Vijay in his statement to the media.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government had scrapped the high denomination currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, citing a steep rise in the flow of black money in the country.

Since the decision came into effect, the people are facing several problems such as they have to stand in the bank and ATM queues for hours to withdraw cash for fulfilling their daily needs.

Well, before the Coimbatore engineer developed the humanoid robot, media reports suggested that in Chennai, someone had developed a banking robot, named 'Lakshmi' to decrease some workload on bankers.
