New Delhi: The information of more than 500 million Facebook users is available on a website of hackers. This information seems to be several years old, but it raises questions about the security of the detailed information collected by Facebook and other social media sites.
Facebook data leaked:
The information about the availability of data was given by the Business Insider website. According to this website, phone numbers, Facebook IDs, full names, locations, dates of birth and email addresses of people from 106 countries are available online.
Questions have been arising on the security of people's information for many years on Facebook. In 2018, the social media company stopped the facility to search user accounts via phone number after the revelation that political company 'Cambridge Analytica' had received eight million seven million Facebook user information without their knowledge or consent.
In December 2019, a security investigator from Ukraine said that 26 million 70 million Facebook user information is available on the Internet. It is still unclear whether the data that Business Insider has made available is related to the data received in December 2019.
Facebook said in a statement, 'This is old data, information of which was given in 2019. We had overcome this problem in August 2019 itself. '
