New Delhi: Hackers claimed to have leaked backing data of 9.9 crore Indian customers of online digital payment app Mobikwik. Data released by hackers include customers' mobile numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers to emails. However, Mobikwik has denied the claim of hackers by denying any breach in its data.

This data leak has been disclosed by cyber security analyst Rajasekhar Rajharia. He has also written to the Reserve Bank of India, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, PCI Standards and Payment Technology Companies in this regard.

Mobikwik data leak case:

MobiKwik denied the allegations:

However Mobikwik rejected this claim. The company spokesperson said that being an organized unit, they take data security very seriously and fully follow the data protection norms. The company said, the company implements extremely stringent compliance measures under its PCI-DSS and ISO certificates, including annual security audits and testing of network attacks every quarter.

A Mobikwik spokesperson said that the company had started an investigation with external security experts as soon as the claim of the data leak was detected and there was no break in the data. He said that the company was working closely with the concerned authorities on the issue and would also conduct a third party forensic data security audit, considering the seriousness of the allegations. At present, the company wants to tell its customers that all their accounts and details are completely safe.
