Qualcomm has recently launched its latest flagship chipset as the 'most advanced 5G mobile platform'. The company has described it as the world's first 5G modern-RF solution, with a download speed of up to 10Gbps with a commercial 18-bit mobile ISP. The processor will be offered in next-generation premium Android smartphones and the first device to be launched with it could be part of the Xiaomi 12 series.

The processor comes with a new naming scheme

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is Qualcomm's new flagship system-on-chip (SoC) and is the first processor to come up with the company's new naming scheme. The processor will be globally adopted by a large number of smartphone brands, including names like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Motorola, Oppo, and Realme. With these processors, Qualcomm will try to compete with MediaTek's latest dimension 9000 chip, Samsung's Exynos 2200 SoC, and Apple's bionic processors.

Chipset is based on 4nm process technology

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is based on 4nm process technology. It features a 64-bit ARM-V9 architecture-based octa-core cryo CPU, which offers speeds of up to 3.0GHz. The company has said that the processor will deliver 20 percent better performance than the previous Snapdragon 888 SoC. The new Adreno GPU will also provide 30 percent better graphics rendering and 25 percent better power efficiency woolcan with 1.1 support.

Got four times better Qualcomm AI engine

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor will feature a 7th-generation Qualcomm AI engine, which is said to be four times faster than the previous chip. The Qualcomm Hexagon processor offers twice as large shared memory and two times faster tensor accelerators and is powered by 3rd-generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub. The new processor also includes the integration of Leeka Litz look filters, natural language processing, and an on-device health analyzer.

Snapdragon site to collect 4,000 times more camera data

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will have 4K on-device display resolution and will also support the processor's 144Hz screen refresh rate, HDR 10+ support, and configuration of LPDDR5 RAM. In addition, the Snapdragon site is accompanied by the first-ever Always-On 18-bit ISP (image signal processor), which will capture 4,000 times more data than the old 14-bit system. Snapdragon's new chipset will support 200MP single-camera resolution and 8K HDR video recording.

World's first chipset to offer Android Ready SE

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset features Snapdragon X65 5G modern-RF system, which can provide download speeds up to 10Gbps and support mmWave 5G and sub-6Hz 5G cellular technologies. This chipset supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC connectivity. This is the first platform that the Android Ready Secure Element (SE) Alliance will offer to protect digital car keys, licenses, and other information.

These smartphones will get a new Snapdragon processor

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor will be available in Motorola Edge X30 (Edge 30 Ultra). This device or Xiaomi 12 can first get a new processor. In addition, devices like Realme GT2 Pro, Oppo's Next Generation Find X Series, Samsung Galaxy S22 Series, and OnePlus 10 Pro will also be the first to have a new processor. Black Sharks, Honor, iQOO, Nubia, Sharp, Sony, Vivo, and ZTE will also launch the phone with new processors.
