New Delhi: WhatsApp, a messaging network with millions of users across the globe, has no shortage of new users. Spam messages from unknown numbers are a common source of frustration for WhatsApp users, and banning numbers is the only solution available. WhatsApp will soon get a new feature that will allow users to report such communications. If the information in the complaint is accurate, WhatsApp may potentially block the linked accounts.

Beta users are getting the update:

According to WABetaInfo, a website that offers information on WhatsApp features and upgrades, the firm is rolling out a new message reporting tool for beta users. This tool will make it simple to report any inaccurate information or spam communications. According to the article, users will be able to submit spam messages from an unknown source to the business, following which the previous five messages would be sent to WhatsApp for assessment.

How to use the feature?

Long pressing on a message provides users with a variety of choices, including stars, replies, forwards, copies, and deletes. Messages may be activated in a variety of ways by tapping them. Users will also be able to make use of the new 'report' feature in due course. Users will be able to select between 'Report and Block' and 'Report' by clicking this button. Such complaints may be made in relation to communications that are rumoured to be fraudulent, obscene, or spam.

Report the specific message:

Within the messaging app, users may now report a specific person or conversation without being able to report an individual message. People will now be able to report messages and ban users by clicking on the report button that is connected with the message. Additionally, the user will now have the ability to report messages alone, rather than blocking them. After undergoing beta testing, this functionality will be made available to everyone.

WhatsApp's automated mechanism:

WhatsApp, a messaging software, has implemented automatic mechanisms to safeguard its user community, which rejects or ban users who violate the service's policies. Users that transmit spam or unsolicited communications may find themselves subject to such a ban. Malicious users may be banned from the site for a period if required in this manner. It is important to note that sending spam messages or bulk communications on WhatsApp may be a contributing factor to the ban.

The 'Request a review" option:

If a WhatsApp account is mistakenly banned, users have the opportunity to file an appeal, which causes the app to examine the basis for the ban. Following the ban, users will see the 'Request a Review' option on the screen, which may be pressed to initiate an appeal. If a user's account is inadvertently banned, WhatsApp will reinstate the account after evaluating the request within the specified time frame.
