Lucknow: WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, has launched a new calling function to its users, which will make it simpler for them to participate in group conversations. "Joinable Calls" is the name of the new function, which will be available to users who are members of WhatsApp groups. Users will be able to ask others to join calls after making video or audio calls as a result of the "Joinable Calls" feature. Users will be able to join to calls using a feature similar to Google Meet or Zoom Meeting.

No need to initiate a new call

It will be simpler to make group videos or audio calls on WhatsApp with the new functionality. When a group call is missed, you must initiate a new call to reconnect with it; however, this will no longer be necessary once the new functionality is implemented. So, if one of the participants is absent, that participant will have the opportunity to join the call with the other participants by simply tapping on their phone's screen.

New option for group calls

Each member of the group will have the ability to make group calls to the other members who are also participating in the group via WhatsApp. Participants are welcome to join this group call anytime they want. Members of the group chat who are unable to participate in the call immediately will notice a new tab in which there is a button that says 'Join'. It is possible to connect and join in the group call that is currently in progress by pressing this button.

The new feature is coming with the latest update

A statement from WhatsApp stated that the joinable call feature was introduced in response to the increasing popularity of group calls. "The joinable call feature allows WhatsApp users to connect effortlessly with their friends and family." Users of the mobile app will be able to make use of the new functionality as of the most recent upgrades. The update will also make some modifications to call notifications, and users will now be able to view the name of the group from which the group call was initiated as part of the notice.

Limitations of the feature

Users who are members of a WhatsApp group will now be able to make use of the new joinable calls feature. After opening the app, users will immediately notice which group the joinable call has originated from and will be able to join the call at any moment simply by selecting "Join." Users will also have the ability to quit the call at any time by selecting "Exit" on their device's home screen. Later on, this feature may be expanded to provide individual group calling as well.

End to end encryption on cloud backup

In addition, the firm is rolling out end-to-end encryption for backups saved on Google Drive and iCloud, among other services. End-to-end encryption on WhatsApp ensures that only the sender and recipient can see and hear each other's conversations and calls. Users, on the other hand, were unable to access this encryption on WhatsApp conversation backups that were stored in the cloud. It is anticipated that the new functionality will be made available to all users and would make cloud-based backups more secure.
