The 23-year-old Unnao rape victim who was airlifted to Delhi and admitted to Safdarjung Hospital with 90 per cent burns after being set on fire has died, hospital sources said.
The dancer, Hina, sustained a bullet injury in her jaw and two others sustained pellet injuries during firing at the function held to celebrate the wedding of the daughter of village head Suhir Singh Patel on November 30, Superintendent of Police Ankit Mittal said.
The Delhi Traffic Police on Thursday provided a "green corridor" for hindrance-free movement of the ambulance carrying her from the airport to the hospital.
The woman, who was allegedly raped in December, said in a statement that she was on her way from her village in Unnao district to Rae Bareli where the trial is going on when she was attacked on Thursday morning.
With the arrest of three persons, police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a fake currency racket in Mehmoodnagar locality here and seized fake Indian counterfeit notes of Rs 59,000 face value.
The incident took place on Monday night when the high school student was allegedly called by one of the accused, who along with three others took her to a forest and gang-raped her, they said.
A joint campaign was conducted by the police along with the departments of agriculture and revenue on Monday night and FIRs were registered against 47 farmers for burning crop residue, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Lal Bharat Kumar Pal said.
"The way in which news of rapes, atrocities and murders of sisters and daughters are coming from the state is heart wrenching. This is the worst era in terms of security of girls and women in the state. This is highly condemnable," Akhilesh said in a tweet in Hindi.
