A fresh spell of rains in the national capital on Saturday kept the mercury within comfortable levels.

It was a cold morning in the national capital with the minimum temperature dipping below the 5-degree Celsius mark.

Delhi shivered with minimum temperature plummeting to 5.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, second lowest in December this year, which was two notches below the average.

Delhi was enveloped in a thick layer of smog on Sunday morning with the minimum temperature settling at 18.7 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.

 Overnight rain in parts of the national capital, Delhi, brought the mercury down, the Meteorological (MeT) department said on Sunday.

At minus 21.1 degree Celsius, Drass recorded the night's lowest temperature, and the town was coldest in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
