As the impasse over government formation continued in Maharashtra, the Congress has convened a meeting ofits newly-elected MLAs here on Friday amid speculation that they may be shifted to Jaipur.

The Congress candidate for Ambala Cantonment assembly seat is pitted not only against a strong BJP nominee, five-time BJP MLA and Haryana minister Anil Vij, but also faces a rebel from his own party.

Former Shiv Sena MLA Harshwardhan Jadhav's residence in Maharashtra's Aurangabad district was vandalised by unidentified persons in the early hours of Thursday after he allegedly made demeaning remarks against Uddhav Thackeray at an election rally, police said.

Congress's MLA, Vinod Chandrakar from Mahasmund assembly in Chhattisgarh was accused of misbehaving with a female staff of Air India at Raipur airport on August 7 after he was stopped from boarding the plane as he had reached late.

After taking oath as MLA, he said his government's first priority would be agriculture and the aim would be to make farmers self-sufficient and debt-free.

"A crater has been formed at the place where the explosion took place. A person has been killed. A blue plastic packet was also found at the spot. Our investigations are on," Bengaluru police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar told reporters after inspecting the spot.

The widening breach between Congress-JD(S) alliance in Karnataka is expected to increase further as Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Monday, threatened to step down if Congress MLAs continue to attack him.
