Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended greetings on Civil Services Day, saying like health professionals, the civil servants have also been leading the fight against coronavirus.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday asked members of the upper house not to avoid appearing before probe agencies when summoned as it was their duty to respect the law and legal provisions.

Speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Sri Satya Sai Orphanage Trust –Kerala, the Vice President called Sri Satya Sai Baba as one of India’s most revered spiritual gurus who devoted his entire life to bring about spiritual regeneration and spread the message of truth, love and peace to unite all mankind.

 Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said it was sad that no Indian university figured among the top 300 in this year's Time World University Ranking, and stressed on the need to improve quality of education in the country.

Voicing concern over the disturbing instances of atrocities against women, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has stressed the need to conclude inquiry, prosecution and trial in a time-bound manner to ensure that justice was delivered on time.

Naidu was speaking after MPs expressed outrage over the rising incidents of crime against women. He said framing of laws will not suffice and all will have to come together to deal with the issue.

He made these remarks while addressing a joint sitting of Parliament to mark the Constitution Day. As vice president, Naidu is also Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
