The residents of Kishtwar and its adjoining areas in Jammu and Kashmir are all set to get five lakh gallons of surplus drinking water with the inauguration of the prestigious Naigadh Water Supply Scheme later this month, officials said on Sunday.
However, the curfew was lifted within hours of Gundana's burial as the situation remained peaceful with no untoward incident reported during the 70-year-old JeI leader's funeral, which was attended by his relatives and neighbours, they added.
The day curfew, which was imposed in the town following the weapon snatching incident on Friday, was lifted but all educational institutions remained closed as a precautionary measure, the officials said.
The authorities imposed night curfew in Kishtwar and Rajouri districts and Banihal area of Ramban district, while restrictions were imposed in many districts of Jammu division and Srinagar, officials said.
According to initial reports, the accident took place around 8.40 am when the minibus, heading towards Kishtwar from Keshwan, skidded off the road near Srigwari and fell into a deep gorge. According to locals the vehicle was overloaded.
The search was conducted on the basis of a complaint alleging that higher charges were applied for transport of material as compared to the prevalent government rates, a spokesperson of the ACB said.
