Uttar Pradesh government has decided that offices and markets in the state will remain closed on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said big events can be held while adhering to the protocol pertaining to COVID-19 and the “Van Mahotsav” will be a witness to this.

Congress workers burnt an effigy of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath following allegations that their party leader Priyanka Gandhi was manhandled by police personnel on her way to the residence of a former IPS officer held for anti-CAA protests in Lucknow.

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for 40 minutes Friday amid an uproar by the opposition over the law and order situation in the state.

The Chief Minister said that "members of the majority community" who were forced to leave their homes in Kairana and Kandhla in Uttar Pradesh due to fear of anti-social elements were returning to their homes.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led state government presented the budget for the year 2019-20 on February 7. Subsequently, the discussion on Budget will take place on four days beginning from February 12. On February 6, February 7 the house will discuss Governer's address. The Session would discuss and put to vote from February 18 -22.

The state government and other local leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the line but due to his unavailability now CM Yogi is slated to inaugurate this corridor.
