Pune-based Serum Institute of India has developed this vaccine under the name of covishield. With this approval, millions of doses of vaccine will reach countries around the world with the help of the United Nations to deal with the pandemic.

Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products of China said on Tuesday that it has developed a facility that is capable of developing 40 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine AstraZeneca in a year.

It is also considering emergency-use authorisation applications for vaccines made by Pfizer Inc with Germany’s BioNTech, and by India’s Bharat Biotech.

News reports say that the Oxford University-AstraZeneca's Corona vaccine has been approved by the United Kingdom regulator.

Oxford and AstraZeneca together with the company Serum Institute is developing a vaccine called Covishield. Apart from this, indigenous vaccines are also being made by Biotech.

AstraZeneca said the vaccine appeared to be up to 90 percent effective in the low-dose group, while the group that was given the full two doses showed the vaccine to be up to 62 percent.

AstraZeneca issued a statement informing it. This is a relief news for India, because the Serum Institute in India is engaged in the production of this vaccine.
