Never underestimate MS Dhoni: Warne’s apparent reply to Ganguly

New Delhi: Six years ago, on the same day, former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was on strike against Sri Lankan bowler Nuwan Kulasekara. It was a historic shot for a six which made India reclaim the World Cup after 28 years.

Indian batsman Virender Sehwag revived the memory on his Twitter handle, saying, "6 years ago #OnThisDay,Dhoni finished it off in style and we as a Team lived a dream & won the World Cup,the best memory for this generation."

India had beaten Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final of World Cup.

The knocks of Gautam Gambhir (97) and MS Dhoni (91) had laid the foundation of the historic win. Sri Lanka had posted 280 on the score card, in reply to which India had suffered some early blows in the form of Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Then, Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni stitched a partnership of 109 runs for the fourth wicket.
