Mumbai: The Indian run machine Virat Kohli jumped 10 places to claim his career best fourth place in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. He has notched up the spot after scoring 248 runs (167 and 81) in the recently ended India versus England Test in Visakhapatnam where the hosts defeated the guests by 246 runs.

Australian skipper Steven Smith (897) heads the rankings table followed by England batsman Joe Root (844) on number two and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (838) on number three.

The aggressive Indian middle-order batsman is ranked No 1 in T20 batsmen's rankings and No 2 in ODI rankings after South African batsman AB de Villiers.

Kohli has breached the 800 rating points for the first time in his career to become the 11th Indian batsman to reach the feat. He has earned 97 points for his man of the match performance in the Vizag Test.

Cheteshwar Pujara also climbed one place ahead in the ICC rankings for batsmen to reach at 9th place for his 119 in the first and 1 in the second innings of the match against England.

Mohammed Shami also reached to his career best 21st rank in the Test rankings for bowlers gaining five places while Ravindra Jadeja also moved a step ahead reaching to the 6th spot. Ravichandran Ashwin continues to lead the ICC Test rankings for bowlers as well as all-rounders.

India and England would meet again at Mohali for the third Test scheduled to begin from Saturday, November 26.
